We offer lessons for all riding levels! Our primary focus is Dressage and Eventing but we do offer limited western lessons as well. Lessons are taught by one of our well qualified instructors and can be on a lesson horse or yours. Grand Oaks also frequently hosts clinics with top instructors from other facilities to allow our clients a well rounded set of learning opportunities.
Kim has been an avid Dressage enthusiast since her first lesson in the summer of 1980. Coming from a western background the precision and challenge of Dressage had her hookes - so much so that after college she decided to enter an apprenticeship with Paul Kathen at Texover Farms. After two years apprenticing, Kim continued to teach and train at Texover for another two years. Since 1994 Kim has been exclusively in the Clear Lake / Friendswood / Alvin area, teaching, training and showing.
Some of Kim's Accomplishments include:
Ruth is passionate about creating riders that not only look good but understand the why behind the technique.
Ruth's main focus is Eventing but she also played polo at Texas A&M and has experience in western riding. She has two bachelors degrees from Texas A&M - one in Animal Science and another in Agricultural Science with an emphasis in education.
Ruth's students have won local as well as national titles and she looks forward to working with the next generation of riders.
Some of Ruth's Accomplishments include:
Ruth is primarily focused on her real estate career and young family at this time but you can still spot her around the barn and managing our social media and marketing.

Lessons must be cancelled 24 hours in advance or the student will be charged for that lesson. We frequently have others who are able to ride in those spots and without adequate notice we are unable to fill those spots. Repeated cancellations will be asked for pre-payment in order to book their lesson.
Students must have a close toed shoe/boot with a heel and long pants on for their lesson. We do have a limited supply of helmets to borrow but encourage students to purchase their own within the first month of lessons. If a student forgets to wear appropriate clothing and cannot find anything in our limited supply of loaner items it will be treated as a last minute cancellation.
We've sold our available horses but we have a large network of trainers that we frequently shop from - please ask us about finding your next partner!
